Funding Opportunity to Advance the UK’s Transition to Net Zero (UK)9th January 2024

As part of the effort to advance the UK’s transition to Net Zero, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is making £9.25 million in funding available to support UK research organisations to establish a flagship transdisciplinary research programme in systems approaches.

The funding will support up to two five-year research programmes to deliver co-created, cutting edge research into the development and implementation of systems approaches to Net Zero.

The full economic cost (FEC) of a project can be up to £5.78 million. 80% of the FEC up to £4.62 million will be funded.

The funding can be used to cover costs such as:

  • a contribution to the salary of the project lead and project co-lead
  • support for other posts such as research and technical staff
  • research consumables
  • travel costs
  • collaboration and stakeholder engagement
  • impact and knowledge exchange activities
  • estates and indirect costs
  • flexible research funding

This opportunity is part of the UKRI Building a Green Future strategic theme.
